here's my travisty's beard of the month. It's a tribute to 'The meaning of night', a great book by Michael Cox which starts with ' After killing the red-haired man, I took myself off to Quinn's for an oyster supper.'

On a different front, we're VERY busy with Solomon's thieves which is now called 'Templar.' The third book is going to be 180 pages.(that is quite a lot more than books 1 and 2 which are each around 130-140 pages long.) That means the whole thing is going to be now around 460 pages. and that's without the extra pages including afterwords, extra artwork etc.... That book is going to be a door stopper! (can also be used as a lethal projectile.)

The big question is when is is going to be done. Soon we hope. Around the end of the year is our current forecast.

We'll post more artwork from book 3 when we have a minute....

ORIGINAL ARTWORK NEEDED!

GOOD CAUSE!

All artwork will go to an art auction to benefit the Washington School for the Deaf. All proceeds will be used to buy graphic novels and comics for the kids.

The whole thing is organized by Jonathan Hill (who has a book coming out with first Second this spring), as you can read it on his website.

They want original artwork, prints, posters, even old comic books you can donate to the school. So, I'm sure all of you (the 10 people or so I'm talking to) have artwork in their files they don't know what to do with... Now you know...

Some News about Solomon's Thieves...

So it's now official. Instead of coming out in 3 separate books, Solomon's Thieves will come out in one HUGE one (around 450 pages) sometimes in summer 2012. Well, we still have to finish the last third of the book first. We're working on it...

A few things for this post. First Uyen and I both drew something in the amazing sketchtravel sketchbook. (YEAAAAH!!!)

We were so excited to be part of that amazing book we finished our pages within days of being asked. (it's also nerve racking to have that thing at home and to be responsible for it. We can't wait for Dice to take it back away from our accident-prone house.)

It's going to make an amazing book when it comes out. I'm so glad we go to see it in person.

also Moonshine, the dreamworks artists book is finally out! Here is the blog of the project and it's available on amazon. There's also lots of great work there.

Here are some locations drawings for Solomon's Thieves book 3...We just started to thumbnail the book. Most of it takes place once again in Paris, but around specific areas. In that case it would be (the wide drawing.) the place de Greve, which was the main merchandise port of Paris and is now the Place de l'hotel de ville.

I've also been offered to do a piece for a fundraiser based on the Katamari Damacy video game.

I had never heard of it before. I checked some youtube videos since then to get a sense of what the hell that thing was. It kind of helped but not really. I ended with an image I like but which might completely wrong for the game...Anyway it was still a lot of fun to do. I'll wait until the show opens (sept 2nd) before posting it here...

The whole event is organized by the Portland based comic books shop Floating World Comics which seems great from where I stand. Lots of cool events.

Ha ! I just finished a piece for the moonshine book show at the Gallery Nucleus in LA. I don't know when the book comes out but the show opens on august 14th. Here is the rough sketch/thumbnail I did for the final which is also in B&W and done with ink on paper (no computer there...)

The word is finally out on our next book. We had to wait before talking about it for different reasons but here it is : Solomon's Thieves, book one !

that's the cover. It comes out in may 2010 and you can already pre-pre-pre-order it on amazon.com. isn't that fantastic?

We're working on the covers of the whole serie and we will then ramp up on book two. We now have colored pages for book one, done by Hillary Sycamore our colorist. Uyen and I finished roughly a third of the book which is a lot of work but also a lot of fun. thanks to a slightly less aggressive schedule we were happy to be able to spend a bit more time on the pages. The first book should come out in fall 2009 if I'm not mistaken.

OK I admit it. I failed miserably. I was supposed to update my blog regularly. but I don't know how people do it. How can anybody have time to do all these things ? but anyway here are some new stuff. Prince of Persia is coming out soon ! in a few weeks. The french version (for those of you who care) is also coming out but a bit later, around november 21st (in 2 books instead of one). Here are the covers for it :
